I guess Netflix has won this battle.
A month ago I ranted when Netflix signed that deal with Warner Brothers that it had to wait 30 days after each DVD release before they could offer it for rent. I was fuming and pissed and said that as a form of revolt I would do as they intended and just wait the 30 days. The idea behind the 30 day wait period is to play a game of chicken with the consumer and hope that they will break down and buy it instead of waiting almost a month before being able to rent the property. At the time I stood strong in my resolve, but now that Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths is out, I don't think I can take it any more. It's getting killer reviews and it has a lot of quality extra's. To sweeten the deal, the double disc version of the movie is dirt cheap. 12.99 at Amazon and the blu-ray is 19.99. I was originally going to save the cash and get the standard DVD, until I saw the Blu-Ray exclusives in the feature list:
DC Showcase: The Spectre
"The New World" extended cut
"A First Look at the Next DC Universe Movie"
Green Lantern First Look
Superman/Batman Public Enemies First Look
Wonder Woman: The Amazon Princess
Trailers
Bruce Timm’s Top Picks; "A Better World" Parts 1 and 2, "Twilight" Parts 1 and 2
DC TV pilot episodes (live-action): Wonder Woman (previously on Wonder Woman S1 release), Aquaman (never before released)
See that golden yellow highlight ? THATS why I'm buying the Blu-Ray. It comes with the freaking Aquaman pilot that everyone made fun of when it was released on itunes for free and is no longer available. I've been trying to get my hands on that thing for years ! I missed the wave when it came out, but I hear is awful, but so awful it's good and that's my kind of awful ! So despite my stance, I have to hand it to Warner Brothers, They got me this time. Anyone else who still mad about teh netflix thing feel free to stick it to DC by purchasing Planet Hulk which I saw and rented from Netflix, it's really really good. I'm considering buying that too but I can't be a maron twice in the same month, it's a rule I kind of made up.
