Seth McFarlane's Almost Live Special Probably Sucked

I stopped watching Family Guy a few episodes into it’s return to television. It just wasn’t funny any more. It started relying way too much on being crude than being clever. It’s a fate that has befallen all of Seth McFarlane’s productions. Even The Cleveland Show, which debuted a month ago has already peaked and has been added to my list of show’s I used to enjoy but will never watch again. This past summer Seth released Cartoon Cavalcade to You Tube, what was on the site was pretty funny but the DVD was uncensored and featured like 15 more cartoons that weren’t funny at all. It literally became worse the longer you watched, like putting your pets in the dryer. (I've never done this, but I've heard stories.)

So naturally last night when Fox dedicated the whole block to Seth and didn’t air The Simpson’s but instead showed his so horribly reviewed, that Microsoft pulled out of sponsoring it to promote Window’s 7 special, I didn’t watch. Microsoft reportedly pulled out because the special was just more of the same stuff he puts in all his shows, and to this I say, DUH. Seth’s shows are all the same thing over and over again with slight modification:
  • Family Guy, Convoluted Situations with Cut Away Gags.
  • American Dad, Convoluted Situations without Cut Away Gags.
  • Cartoon Cavalcade, Cut Away Gags without Convoluted Situations.
  • The Cleveland Show, Black Convoluted Situations with Black Cut Away Gags, and a talking bear.
  • Live Seth McFarlane, Convoluted Crap with...DUH.
I’m not sure what Microsoft expected, I’m guessing it was an intern’s suggestion that someone stole not knowing the intern was the bosses son, and also a moron. Seth has built his career on being offensive and recycling the same idea 20 times. Any company looking to build it's reputation or good will with it's customer's really shouldn't look to him for help. Either way I DVR’d the special because I’m not one to turn away from a train wreck...and I wanted the option to fast forward past anything particularly stupid. From the sound of most of the reviews on the interweb's, looks like I’ll be fast forwarding past everything except the commercials, sooo.. WIN, for the sponsors that took Microsoft’s place, I guess.

I was able to find one positive review, but the website makes my eyes hurt and thus I am not convinced, good logic huh ? : Momsworld
