Sesame Street Celebrates 40 Years & Gets Political

Wow. How old am I ? Sesame Street turned 40 today and it’s writers decided to get Conservative Huffington bloggers all in a... huff by mocking Fox news. When Grouches are calling you trashy it’s time to look in the mirror and ask yourself a few questions. I can't wait for Bill O’ Reilly to call for his flock to have their kids boycott Sesame Street. I used to listen to political talk radio and had to stop abruptly because the abuse of the English language by the listeners, to quote one caller, was an “ABOBMONATION” and hurt my brain. Maybe I'm too moderate. Ha.

It’s crazy to me that Sesame Street touched on anything political. I guess the show has gone through a lot of changes since I used to watch. Apparently Cookie Monster doesn’t hallucinate about cookies anymore, eating anything tangible in sight, but has now acquired a more mature palette savoring vegetables from time to time as a means to help curb child obesity rates. The concept almost makes me sad but I’m sure kids today gain value from it. As long as Oscar is still a jerk I’ll deal. Anyway thanks for 40 years , 10 of which I’ve actually viewed myself, of edutainment that has done so much for people across the globe. I’ve often heard of native Spanish speaking people who say that they learned English from Sesame Street, but never any native English speakers say they learned Spanish from Plasa Sesamo..... I think it’s all an evil plan of the green Big Bird.
