Jennifer's Body DVD Marketed Just like The Movie

I never saw Jennifer’s Body. It looked like soft core horror porn, and I try to stay away from all of the above, especially soft core. However over at i09, the reviewer claims the movie is actually smart and funny. He says it was just marketed wrong. At this point I was torn, and decided that instead of going to a theater and risking feeling like a perv if the reviewer was wrong, I’d just rent it on DVD and risk feeling like a perv if the reviewer was wrong. At least with the latter I can cut off the TV and walk away. Not to say you can’t walk out of a movie theater, but we all know that’s much harder to do considering the cost of admission, popcorn and gas.

I’m estimating that I wasn’t alone in my reaction to Jennifer’s Body marketing. I admit I was confused by the product considering it was written by Juno scribe, Diablo Cody. It seems the studio was trying to capitalize on Megan Fox’s sex appeal, forgetting that over stating sexuality in a major motion picture almost always fails. They didn’t seem to try to push the B-Movie appeal as much as they could have, and now that people have actually seen the movie the cat is out of the bag, because of this I’m going to predict that when the DVD is released, Jennifer’s Body will be a hit.

All those people who were afraid of being perceived as pervy will order the DVD on Amazon and label it a guilty pleasure. All the people that were curious/on the edge about the movie will rent it on Netflix and as word of mouth spreads that the movie features something besides Megan Fox’s cleavage, another film that wasn’t handled properly will be vindicated.

Of course this is all speculation and from the looks of the way they are marketing the DVD, i.e. The same way they marketed the movie, I have a very high chance of being wrong. It’s SABOTAGE ! Now try to get that song out of your head.
