That’s not an official Calvin & Hobbes comic, but rather commentary by another unnamed artist. I really like the point it makes. I’m a big advocate for not diagnosing things as disorders or throwing pills at situations. I really think over half of the children diagnosed with ADD, are just being regular kids. I know for sure if my parents bought into that crap I’d be medicated and most likely stifled in my creativity. I have a lot of those symptoms, BUT because I was never diognosed and given a crutch I learned how to work with/around my differentials, much like functioning schizophrenic, John Forbes Nash, Jr. (the inspiration for A Beautiful Mind). In no way am I comparing ADD to schizophrenia , just noting that it’s possible to be a functioning member of society without medicating. A lot situations are self fulfilling prophecies. However, SOME people really do have problems that medicine fixes but I just don’t think it’s as many as get diagnosed.I take you down this self philosophical road because I just purchased the Tenth Anniversary Calvin & Hobbes's book for Amazon for 36 CENTS, plus 3.99 for shipping. That’s $4 dollars and 35 freaking cents. That’s ridiculous for any good book, used or not. I don’t know what’s wrong with these books, because there are a lot of them going that cheap, but as long as all the pages are readable I’m happy. Calvin & Hobbes is the greatest comic strip known to mankind. <--This is the only opinion that has been certified as a fact by a council of official people not in silly robes. This Tenth Anniversary edition has lot’s of commentary from Bill Waterson, making it already worth more than the $4.35 total price. So yeah, check that out. It’ll be a while before I get it, I ordered mine from someone in the UK because I was curious if books from other countries smell different.... I’ll have my answer soon enough !
